New Year Resolutions?

I didn't make any this year. Honestly, I don't think I've ever made New Year's resolutions. But I am making changes! I'm enrolling in online classes to get a second degree - in accounting. I don't like dealing with my checkbook, but I like numbers, and I need to make myself more marketable for this part of the country in case my temporary assignment at work really is temporary

I'm also studying for certification in the field I'm currently working (scheduling). Haven't been able to convince my boss the certification is necessary to make me a better employee (after all, I'm a TEMPORARY scheduler), so it means doing it on my own (book study) instead of attending expensive classes the company would pay for. But I love the work I'm doing and should be able to do contract scheduling from home or with limited travel if I have the proper credentials.

Did I mention I'm 50? Some days I think I'm crazy to be training for a new career at this point in my life (and spending money on classes instead of yarn). Other days I'm so excited to be in learning mode again that I'm sure it's absolutely the best thing I could be doing at this point in my life.

You know, I just found an old blog site I used and forgot about, and it doesn't have that annoying ad at the top of the page. I think I'm moving back over there. I did move back over "there", which is here :-)

What have you resolved for 2008?

Destined for check-writing mistakes...

It's a new year, and all I can think is how many checks I'll screw up before I remember it's '08, not '07.

Instead of making resolutions, I'm starting a new blog. I have two others, I think - they obviously didn't turn out to be the "can't live without" tools I thought they would. Maybe this one will be different.

I may need to find another blog host, though - is that annoying jittery banner always going to be on this page?
NOTE: After two posts on the "new" blog, I returned to this one, which doesn't have the annoying jittery ad banner across the top of the page. I think I liked some of the tools better at the formerly new place, though.

To ring in the New Year, we ate pizza and played Pinochle and Pass the Ace with several generations of my husband's clan. At some point I suppose he'll need a blog nickname, but he's going to have to earn it, eh? For now, he'll remain "my husband."

And - as usual - I was sound asleep before it was midnight anywhere in the contiguous United States.

How did you greet the New Year?
